Migration Service Process for Certification Authority Using Project Management Body of Knowledge

Termination of Certification Authority (CA) has an impact on the occurrence of massive and permanent migration to a new CA with the result that the migration process needs to be managed. Project management is appropriate for different activity sectors and greatly contributes to the success of software development or IT projects such as a migration service process for CA. The purpose of this study is to propose a recommendation on how to manage the CA migration process based on the Project Management Book of Knowledge 6th Edition. The methodology consists of three main steps which are input that uses case study, qualitative research, and data collection, process based on the process life cycle and knowledge areas, and output which is in the form of recommendation for a CA migration process. The result recommends a migration service process for CA using PMBOK 6th Edition consisting of the initiating phase, planning phase, execution phase, controlling and monitoring phase, and closing phase. Implementation of the recommendation on the study case was successful and 67% of respondents felt the migration process was progressing smoothly.
