Estimating Wear of Diaphragm Spring Clutch

An algorithm for estimating the wear of diaphragm spring clutch is presented. By analyzing the relationship between the wear amount of the clutch friction plate of automatic transmission and the separation force acting on the separation bearing, the relationship between the separation force and the output torque of the clutch executing motor, the relationship between the temperature of the clutch executing motor and the output torque of the clutch executing motor, aiming at the situation that the shift impact of the clutch actuator controlled by the motor will be large when the friction plate is worn at different amounts, Based on the analysis of the working principle of the clutch actuator with the automatic compensation function of friction plate wear, the estimation algorithm of clutch wear is analyzed by taking the push clutch actuator as the research object. Because the clutch wear is a long-term process, the estimation of clutch wear is only calculated when the clutch actuator starts to separate. The mathematical model of the relationship between the current and wear of the clutch operating motor at different temperatures is established, and the simulation platform of the transmission system software of automatic mechanical transmission is established by using Matlab/Simulink software. Under different clutch wear degrees, the proposed clutch wear estimation algorithm and the traditional algorithm are used to simulate the vehicle shift process. The simulation results show that the proposed estimation algorithm can accurately identify the clutch wear amount and correct the clutch engagement position according to the estimated wear amount, which can improve the ride comfort and prolong the service life of the clutch.
