Multi-Time-Scale Scheduling of Hybrid Energy Storage Systems

In the context of a high penetration of renewable energy, power systems face numerous challenges related to supply-demand balance and operational stability. This paper proposes a "source-storage-load" multi-time-scale scheduling framework based on the advantages of hybrid long- and short-term energy storage systems. The aim is to enhance renewable energy utilization, reduce power curtailment, and ensure system safety and economic efficiency through the coordinated use of multiple storage technologies. The study analyzes the optimal configuration of different combinations of energy storage technologies and their regulatory roles within the power system. Results indicate that the rational allocation of both long-term and short-term storage systems can significantly reduce operational costs, improve system flexibility, and effectively address the volatility and uncertainty of renewable energy generation.
