Automatic Topology Generation of High-Voltage Distribution Network with T-Nodes and Teed Lines

The topology generation and visualization of high-voltage distribution networks are primarily performed manually in practice. However, the manual drawing method faces issues of time consumption and the lack of connectivity between data and graphics. This paper presents an automated topology generation method that integrates distribution network data with topological graphics, especially considering T-nodes, a unique feature in distribution networks. T-nodes is the point where a line bifurcates, but they are not buses, making it difficult to be described using the conventional bus-branch model. To deal with this challenge, we define a new type of data structure that can incorporate T-nodes and design an automatic drawing algorithm. The case study demonstrates that the proposed method can adapt to various types of distribution network topologies.
