Reconstruction of a 3D Model Using Monocular Depth Estimation Algorithm

This paper is focused on a possible application of the latest depth inference models for scanning and reconstructing 3D surface in the form of a point cloud and a triangle mesh surface from a single photograph. It evaluates whether computer vision algorithms have already reached the necessary precision to compete with more standard approaches of 3D scanning and proposes other potential uses.
