Automated Test Equipment of Power Distribution Unit for Unmanned Aerial Systems

In modern avionics system Testing and Verification are very important criteria. With the advantage of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), power sub systems are more intelligent with advance features. Advance power systems testing is usually more complicated and repetitive, with various modes of operation to be tested. Automated test equipment based testing is best suited for testing the Power Distribution Unit. The serial communication protocol is very important for interfacing the Power distribution unit with the On board computer. This paper discusses about automated test equipment with MIL 1553-B based communication protocol which has been deployed successfully for testing the PDU with On board computer. Automated Test Equipment consists of PCI based ADC, DAC, MIL 1553-B, DOP and serial ADD On cards for automated testing of all health parameters of Power Distribution Unit.
