Technical Design of Grid Connected Photovoltaic (PV)-Based Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Bangladesh Perspective

This study presents a photovoltaic (PV) power system designed for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Bangladesh, addressing the critical issues of charging infrastructure and the need for clean energy. The design and sizing of the PV system are based on the anticipated EV charging demand and the average solar hours available in the region. Available open spaces have been identified as optimal installation sites for this initiative. After accounting for losses, including degradation and soiling effects, the required capacity of the PV array has been determined to be 50 kW with an expected performance ratio of 85%. To validate this design, simulations were conducted using PVsyst solar system software. The simulation results indicate that the number of panels can be optimized, allowing for a reduction in the total number of panels while enhancing the overall system performance. This approach not only meets the growing demand for EV charging in Bangladesh but also promotes the utilization of renewable energy, supporting the country's sustainable development objectives.
