A Natural Fault-Tolerant Control for a Dual Three-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Single-Phase Open Fault

The Dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (DT-PMSM) has gained widespread application in high-reliability scenarios owing to its high power density and exceptional fault-tolerant capabilities. Single-phase failures are a common occurrence in electric drives. In addressing the open-phase fault-tolerant control of multi-phase motors, a reduced-order decoupled model is frequently formulated; nevertheless, the associated decoupled matrices are susceptible to variations based on the opened-phase, rendering them unsuitable for industrial applications. To address these challenges, this research introduces a natural fault tolerant control approach that utilizes the decoupling transformation matrices of the healthy mode consistently, regardless of the opened-phase. Furthermore, a comprehensive fault tolerant current re-configuration and regulation methodology is presented, incorporating controllability re-matching and constraints for equal amplitude and minimal copper losses. Experimental outcomes validate the efficacy and practicality of the proposed natural fault tolerant control strategy.
