A Framework for Secure and Scalable Metaverse Environments Leveraging IoT Technologies

Effective data synchronization and security are essential for integrating AR/VR and IoT devices within the Metaverse. However, almost all of them suffer from one limitation or another, especially in real-time data processing with strong security. This work proposes a new protocol, MetaFusion, addressing the challenges through the integration of hyperdimensional computing and advanced cryptography. MetaFusion leverages the power of hyperdimensional transformation to encode data, dynamic key update mechanisms to ensure security resilience, and tensor polynomial transformation for homomorphic computation on encrypted data. It also embeds a Secure Multi-Party Computation Framework that can enable collaboration in data processing without losing individual data privacy. The simulation results showed that MetaFusion achieved an average latency of 18 ms under high network load, a throughput of 850 Mbps in high data volume scenarios and showed better scalability to a throughput of 920 Mbps when the number of devices was increased. In addition, MetaFusion achieved 95 points for security resilience in the case of brute force.
