A Comparative Analysis of the Reliability of Auxiliary Power Supplies

This article presents a comparative analysis of the reliability and efficiency of galvanically isolated switching mode power supplies (SMPSs) for auxiliary power supply (APS) applications. The study examines the influence of output power, input voltage, transformer turn ratio, and key electrical components on the lifetime of various converter topologies under diverse operating conditions. Key reliability metrics, including mean time to failure (MTTF), are analyzed across three levels of input voltage and output power to determine the most suitable topology for APS applications. This analysis offers a valuable framework for optimizing topology selectionto enhance APS reliability.
