Engineering Excellence Fabricating an Intelligent and Automated Railway Gate Control System

Providing automated railway gate operations at level crossings, as opposed to manually controlled gates, are the primary purpose of this planned effort. To prevent train accidents at unattended railway gates, the NodeMCU microcontroller was used to construct the suggested prototype model. Two reed sensors, one on each side of the gate, can detect whether a train is approaching the gate using this technology. When a train approaches or leaves a level crossing, reed sensors installed in front of the gate detect the train's arrival or departure, and geared DC motors controlled by a microcontroller open and close the gate, correspondingly. These results in a shorter period of time the gate is closed compared to manually controlled gates, which in turn minimizes the likelihood of human mistake. Using an infrared LED and an oscillator circuit, this study also suggests a method for detecting impediments between the gates when trains arrive. The use of metallic conductivity and a squire wave generating circuit for rail track cut detection is also included in this paper. This might help prevent significant railway accidents. We cross-validated the suggested model with regard to the standard Arduino based Railway Gate Control (ARGC) to evaluate its efficiency. The system is referred to as IoTRGCL.
