Design of Compact Quad Band Circular Slot Microstrip Patch Antenna for S Band, C Band, X Band, and Ku Band Satellite Communication

A new feature of low profile monopole microstrip patch antenna (MPA) generating quad band applicable for various wireless communication is proposed. The proposed antenna is of a circular shape imprinted with six equally radius circular slots and one central circular slot of bigger radius as compared to peripheral circular slots and the radiating patch is fed by 50 ohmic microstrip line. The sharp resonating frequencies are 3.8 GHz, 7.5 GHz, 11.2 GHz and 14.5 GHz. The bandwidth ranges are (2.6-4.5) GHz, (6.6-8.9) GHz, (10.6-11.6) GHz and (13.6-14.7) GHz at their respective resonant frequencies. The antenna is covering 1.9 GHz, 2.3 GHz, 1 GHz and 1.1 GHz bandwidth where all the covered ranges are above 500 MHz required for UWB communication devices. The quad bands are very justifiable applications for S band, C band, X band and Ku band satellite uplink and downlink frequency application. The antenna is simulated and optimized in Ansys HFSS 2023 R2 software.
