ThermoShield: An IoT Arduino-Based Cooling and Heat Sensor Monitoring System with Weather Forecasting and Advisory Using Linear Regression for Enhanced Mobile Phone Protection

Mobile phones are essential tools for productivity and daily activities but are vulnerable to overheating, particularly in high-temperature environments. This can result in hardware damage, data loss, and potential safety hazards, especially in tropical regions where extreme heat is prevalent. To mitigate these issues, the researchers propose an IoT-based, Arduino-powered cooling and heat monitoring system that regulates device temperature and provides real-time monitoring within a protective casing. The system also integrates weather forecasting and advisory recommendations using linear regression to optimize cooling mechanisms. This solution aims to enhance mobile phone protection and user satisfaction, making it ideal for individuals frequently exposed to high temperatures. The system was evaluated using International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 25010 software quality standards and achieved mean scores of 3.51 for Functional Suitability, 3.50 for Reliability, and 3.62 for Portability—each classified as “Very Satisfied”. The mobile application successfully integrated weather forecasting using a linear regression model; however, its performance is constrained by limited access to weather data specific to the Philippines. Future enhancements will focus on improving data access and more opportunities in accessing weather data. Evaluation results demonstrated positive feedback across all categories, confirming the system's effectiveness and functionality in meeting its intended purpose.
