Development of a Prosthetic Hand With Bionic Function and Light Weight

This study proposes a prosthetic hand to satisfy both biomimetic and practical demands, including motion function, human size, light weight. With proper mechanical design, the proposed hand successfully integrates three actuators and transmission mechanisms within the dimension of a human hand, weighing only 200.75g. The hand can not only achieve 85% of the grasp motions of the ADLS but also achieve natural movements in grasping of regular and irregular objects. Finally, two kinds of experiments have been conducted to verify the effectiveness and performance of the proposed hand design. The experimental results clearly indicate that the proposed prosthetic hand successfully realizes the bionic function and light weight design.
