Design and Analysis of Complementary Codes for Phase Coding Pulse Compression Radar

Phase code is a key component of phase modulated pulse compression radar. In order to achieve high range resolution and suppress interference between different radar signals, excellent aperiodic correlation performance of phase code is desired. Based on the interleaving operation and orthogonal expansion, a new design method of complementary phase code set for pulse compression radar is proposed. Different from the traditional complementary pairs, the designed phase code set not only possess optimal aperiodic autocorrelation function property, but also has a larger number of codes, which can ensure greater flexibility in radar parameter selection. The specific design algorithm and its construction example are provided. In addition, the aperiodic correlation properties are analyzed and compared with M code and Baker code.
