Teager Energy Operator-Based Single-Phase Grid Synchronization Method

The effectiveness of a relatively simple Teager energy operator (TEO)-based single-phase grid synchronization method, which relies on a second-order generalized integrator (SOGI), is affected in the presence of lower-order harmonics. Additionally, the SOGI-based orthogonal signal generator may be impacted by integrator discretization errors, altering the pole-zero distribution compared to the continuous domain. These discretization errors can accumulate over time, potentially leading to stability issues. To overcome such limitations of the SOGITEO method, this paper proposes an improved TEO-based method that avoids using the SOGI by combining the TEO with a delayed signal cancellation approach. Simulations and experiments are conducted to verify the enhanced response of the offered TEO-based method.
