Design of an RFID-Based Smart Queueing System Integrated with Computer Vision Utilizing Dynamic Source Routing Algorithm

Efficient customer flow management in healthcare facilities is critical due to the nature of healthcare services and its impact on patient outcomes. Extended waiting times can lead to patient dissatisfaction, compromised care quality, and potential health risks. Implementing a smart queuing system that integrates technologies like Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), and computer vision can enhance operations and prioritize patient safety and satisfaction. The system captures images for computer vision analysis to identify patient service needs, with RFID-based tracking nodes relaying information via MQTT. The system enables real-time status updates and efficient patient service allocation. Automated interfaces improve usability for patients and staff. The RFID-based smart queuing system significantly improves queueing efficiency by 63.59%, achieving an average efficiency rate of 83.05% compared to the current system's 30.24%. Utilizing the DSR algorithm, known for dynamic route optimization, the system maintains a 90.037% Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), 242.77 ms Time Delay, and 100% uptime, as demonstrated by Wireshark Analyzer simulations. This optimization enhances resource allocation, operational processes, and overall customer experience in healthcare facilities.
