Power-Sharing Mechanism for a Modular Robot Using Power Packet Technology

A modular robot consists of connected many autonomous modules and achieve a given task. There is a minimum number of active modules required to perform a given task. To maximize the task operating time of the modular robot, each module must share electric power. We propose a power-sharing mechanism for a modular robot. By applying power packet technology, each module shares electric power. The effectiveness of the proposed method was evaluated through a simulations and a prototype of the modular robot.
