Matching Tech Solutions to the Needs of Marginalized Citizens

The deliverable A process for incremental improvement and matching the needs of citizens to solutions of tech providers is part of the European Horizon project CommuniCity. It describes a process for matching the needs of marginalized citizens with technological solutions. The main bottleneck is a lack of understanding of social issues by technology companies. Marginalized citizens face physical, mental and social barriers. Their limited access to technology increases their social isolation. Technology development often does not take their needs into account, limiting the ability to address social issues. CommuniCity emphasizes co-creation and advocates a human-centered design process. The deliverable provides a practical process from challenge formulation to adoption that fully involves marginalized groups through accessible co-creation methods. The aim is to increase engagement and put the experiences of marginalized groups at the center of technology development, ultimately improving their social position.
