Multiple reactive source partition and pilot node selection for power grid with high proportion of PV and ESS

Reasonable reactive power partition and pilot node selection are the key link of voltage control. However, the traditional method of cluster analysis does not consider the supportive capacity of multiple reactive power sources. Even worse, the reactive power inside the partition could be insufficient and the pilot node is hard to determine using this method. In this paper, a method considering non-isolated node and dynamic reactive margin index boundary is introduced to improve the hierarchical clustering partitioning algorithm considering multiple reactive sources such as photovoltaic (PV) energy and energy storage system (ESS). In this method, in order to ensure sufficient reactive power reserves in each region, the reactive power imbalance index is utilized to calibrate the balance of reactive power in partitioning scheme. Meanwhile, the concatenation edge number of the node is introduced to improve the comprehensive sensitivity index for selecting the pilot node to enhance the selection accuracy. Last but not the least, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by improved IEEE 39-bus system.
