Enhancing Security in SWIPT Wireless Networks with Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces

This study explores physical layer security in intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted networks that support simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT). Initially, we derive a closed-form expression for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) under the assumption that the eavesdropper’s statistical channel state information (CSI) is unknown. Building on this, we formulate an optimization problem aimed at minimizing the SOP. The problem is tackled by alternately optimizing the beamforming vectors and phase shift matrices. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed alternating optimization algorithm effectively reduces the SOP.
