Alternate Approach for Space Debris Removal to Promote Space Sustainability Along with Delta-V Requirements

Space Debris is a major concern over space that occurs in the present day. The paper proposes a comprehensive Space Debris Removal System designed to tackle the increasing threat of space debris, specifically in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The proposed debris removal system is divided into two stages: in the first stage, four modules are stationed in LEO for debris collection along with one module that transports debris to GEO, and in the second stage, three modules in GEO for the restoration and recycling of collected materials and transporting them to desired orbits, promoting sustainability in space activities by re-purposing debris of defunct satellites. The system's orbital strategy lies in using a Hohmann transfer orbit, selected for its efficiency in orbital maneuvers, supported by detailed delta-V calculations essential for precise maneuver planning. Validation through simulation and testing using the General Mission Analysis Tool(GMAT) confirms the feasibility of these maneuvers. The system aims to mitigate risks posed to operational satellites, space tourism, and communication networks by debris.
