Mastermind of Systems Dynamics, the Whirlwind Computer, and Core Memory: Jay Forrester

Jay Forrester was a Massachusetts Institute of Technology computer scientist who made significant contributions to both computer technology and a computer application that was in fact a new kind of science. The Whirlwind computer project that he led was the first computer capable of real-time applications and the core memory that he developed for it was the primary memory system of all computers for 20 years. After these contributions to computer technology, he turned his attention to what would become systems theory, a revolutionary new science impacting many disciplines.
