Accomplishing Power Flow with UPQC in Distributed Generation System

The increasing integration of Distributed Generation (DG) into power networks has brought forth new challenges related to efficient power flow management and power quality. The Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) is a versatile device designed to address both voltage and current-related issues in DG systems. This paper explores the application of UPQC to optimize power flow within a DG system, ensuring smooth operation and enhanced reliability. Through comprehensive simulations, the study demonstrates how UPQC effectively manages power flow by compensating for voltage fluctuations, mitigating harmonics, and regulating reactive power, both in grid-connected and islanded modes. The results highlight UPQC's role in maintaining stable power flow while improving overall system efficiency, contributing to more resilient and balanced power distribution. By integrating UPQC, this research offers a robust solution to the challenges of power flow in DG systems, ensuring compliance with power quality standards and enhancing the performance of distributed energy resources.
