Research on Carbon Emission Accounting Method of 126 kV GIS Power Equipment Based on LCA

This study focuses on the field of power switchgear, aiming to solve the problems of complex carbon footprint accounting of products and insufficient research on related carbon emission accounting due to the long span of industrial chain. In this study, 126 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) is selected as the research object, and the Life Cycle Assessment, LCA) method is adopted to establish the boundary of the whole life cycle system from raw material, production, transportation, use to final disposal, that is, the assessment range of “cradle to grave”. The specific accounting adopts the emission factor method (IPCC method) to quantitatively analyze the carbon emissions of GIS equipment in different life cycle stages. Based on the analysis results, feasible carbon reduction strategies are proposed. The results show that the carbon emissions in the raw material acquisition stage and the product use stage are the most in the whole life cycle of GIS products. Therefore, in the process of GIS manufacturing, carbon emissions should be reduced from the source by purchasing environmentally friendly materials, recycling and other measures. This study not only provides a reference for the emission reduction scheme of GIS in the whole life cycle, but also provides a reference methodology for carbon emission accounting and analysis of other types of power equipment.
