Stability Analysis of Remote Voltage Control for DC Converters with Long-Cable

The stability issues caused by the small inertia and constant power load of independent power systems have been widely studied. When the power supply cable is long, remote voltage control method is used for precise voltage at the load end. The instability caused by impedance mismatching is particularly pronounced in this case. This article establishes a model for longcable remote voltage control method of DC converters. Then, the impact of cable impedance, source output filter capacitance, load input capacitance, control loop gain, and control loop bandwidth on system stability are analyzed. Furthermore, a method for improving system stability under long-cable remote voltage control is proposed and verified by simulation.
