Research on Ablation Characteristics of Power Cable Buffer Layer

With the continuous development of modern construction, the application of high-voltage power cables in urban areas is increasing. High-voltage power cables are characterized by high safety and reliability, large current-carrying capacity, minimal environmental impact, etc., playing an important role in ensuring safe and stable operation of electrical loads. However, the construction and operation of high-voltage power cables, as a complex system engineering project, inevitably encounter many technical challenges in practical applications. If not addressed promptly, these challenges can cause significant disruptions to residential electricity and production, necessitating a root-cause approach to ensure the safe, stable, and efficient operation of high-voltage power cables. This paper analyzes the erosion mechanism of cable buffer layers, combines their structural characteristics, uses PyroSim software to construct a thermal model of high-voltage cable buffer layers, analyzes related influencing factors, verifies the feasibility of asphyxiation fire extinguishing methods in cable fire prevention and extinguishing, and conducts simulation analysis of factors that may affect the extinguishing process. Based on a deep analysis of the erosion mechanism, effective methods for cable fire extinguishing are proposed.
