A Low Profile Flexible Conformal Phased Array for UAVs Applications

A low-profile flexible conformal phased array suitable for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs) is proposed. The proposed element is a Miniaturized planar logarithmic periodic antenna fed by a balun from $50 \Omega$ to $130 \Omega$. By employing the methods of cutting and slotting, the size of the proposed antenna is reduced $18.8 \%$. The proposed array is ultimately adhered conformally to the interior of the UAVs. The array provides a bandwidth of $49.4 \%(3.62-6 \mathrm{GHz})$ frequency range in broadside and $46 \%(3.48-5.56 \mathrm{GHz})$ frequency range in H -plane under ± 30° scanning.
