High Isolation Dual-Polarized Base Station Antenna Array Loaded with Frequency Selective Surface Baffles

The baffles based on frequency selective surface (FSS) are proposed to reduce the mutual coupling for $\pm {4 5}^{\circ}$ dualpolarized base station antenna array. Each baffle consists of several bandstop behavior FSS elements printed on both sides of a 0.5 mm thickness FR4 substrate. The decoupling effect of baffles is verified by a $2 \times 2$ compact antenna array operating in $3.3-3.8 \mathrm{GHz}$. Dual-polarized cross-dipole array with FSS loading baffles is simulated and the results show that the mutual coupling coefficients between antenna ports can be effectively reduced below -20dB over the entire operating band.
