A Wideband and High Efficiency Transmitarray Based on Low-Profile Elements

This article reports a wideband and high efficiency transmitarray based on low-profile elements. The unit cell features a single substrate layer, and on its both sides, a pair of double split-square-ring shaped patches are etched. Using the proposed element, a circular transmitarray with a diameter of 300 mm is designed. The simulated results show that the transmitarray can achieve $19.1 \% / 31.9 \%$ bandwidth for 1 dB/3 dB gain decline. Furthermore, the peak aperture efficiency is 61%.
