Rice Height Inversion Using Dual-Polarization SAR Based on the RVoG Model

This paper proposes a method for rice height inversion using PolSAR data under non-interferometric conditions. First, polarimetric SAR decomposition techniques are used to separate canopy and surface scattering signals. Then, the Random Volume over Ground (RVoG) model is introduced to model the rice canopy scattering energy. Finally, homogeneous neighboring pixels are combined, and the NSGA-II genetic algorithm is employed for inversion. The method was experimentally validated using 13 scenes of Sentinel-1 images from 2019 in the Spanish region, with results showing that the height inversion accuracy of this method reached 0.1 m, and the correlation coefficient exceeded 0.9.
