Beamforming in a Multifunctional Fully Digital Phased Array

Wideband digital beamforming and narrowband beamforming of many beams is a key for multifunctional fully digital arrays which will produce terabytes per second of data. In this paper an architecture for a such an array, considering the current state-of-the-art COTS hardware capabilities, is proposed. Furthermore, a hardware efficient algorithm for the wideband digital beamforming is presented and investigated.
