A Wideband High-Gain Patch Antenna Design for Millimeter Wave Applications

A wideband high gain millimeter wave patch antenna design is proposed in this paper, catering to the ever-growing demands of modern communication systems. Multiband operation is achieved by seamlessly integrating multiple inter-connected patch elements. All the elements are fed through a single microstrip line of 50 ohms, eliminating the need for complex feeding networks to excite multiple antenna elements. The paper explores the functionality of the designed antenna through characteristic mode analysis. The antenna operates in the 22-28.5 GHz band with a fractional bandwidth of 25.7% and a peak gain of 11.56 dBi. The design is suitable for future millimeter-wave applications due to its simple design and planar structure.
