Phased Array Pattern Pointing to Increase Tx/Rx Isolation for STAR and Full-Duplex Systems

Phased array transmit to receive isolation is critical for Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) and full-duplex systems. A method is presented to increase transmit to receive isolation with the rotation of the phased array panels. Inspiration for the focus on isolation is discussed along with typical methods of addressing. The presented method offers better than 30 dB of improved isolation created by rotating the existing array according to the far field antenna patterns. Related discussions on array lattice and tapering selections are included for completeness. No additional hardware or design changes are necessary.
