Integrated Design and Development of Ultrasonic Guided wave Chaos Detection System for Pipelines

Chaotic oscillator system is one of the effective methods for detecting weak signals. The technique of detecting weak signals in chaotic oscillator system is to use the sensitivity of non-equilibrium phase transition of chaotic oscillator to the system parameters and the immunity to noise signals to achieve the detection of weak signals in strong noise background. The different effects of the periodic signal and noise signal on the phase track diagram of the Dufrene system can be used to clearly discriminate whether the detected signal is mixed with a guided wave signal of the same frequency as the system, and thus identify defects. In the realization of the traditional ultrasonic wave-guide detection equipment, expand the functions of the instrument detection system and reduce its operational difficulties. LabVIEW is used as a platform to write software, and an event-driven state machine is used to structure the software. For the portable ultrasonic guided wave detection platform based on chaotic oscillator system built by external hardware devices, it can realize the precise control of the software for the instrument, realize the excitation and reception of signal, interception, chaotic detection, phase track diagram display and defect location, and propose a dichotomy method of signal to locate defects. The experiment of defect detection based on Duffing chaotic oscillator system was conducted on a 1mm thick steel pipe to verify the feasibility of this software.
