Study on the Sensitivity of the Cross-Correlation Function of Target Scattering Fields Based on Ocean Background Noise

Background noise carries information about the propagation paths in the process. Existing theories suggest that path information can be extracted from background noise. While substantial research has been conducted on seismic background noise on land, there remains a significant demand for studies applied to marine environments. Current simulation research on ocean background noise primarily focuses on two-dimensional planes, with limited attention to three-dimensional spatial simulations. Therefore, this paper approaches the issue from a spatial perspective by setting up a number of randomly distributed point sources emitting Gaussian white noise to obtain acoustic signals at designated receiving points. We compare the cross-correlation functions in two scenarios: with and without the presence of a target. Due to the existence of scattering fields, we observe a significant difference in the cross-correlation functions between the presence and absence of a target. Additionally, as the radial distance between the receiver and the target changes, differences in the cross-correlation functions are also noted.
