Development of HUST-PTF Scintillation System

Huazhong University of Science and Technology is building a proton therapy facility (HUST-PTF) based on a superconducting cyclotron, known as the HUST-PTF. This facility is designed to use high-energy proton beam to treat cancer precisely, thereby improving the treatment effects by reducing damage to healthy tissues. The scintillation system is an essential part of the beam diagnostic system, primarily consisting of the scintillation base, CCD camera, scintillation screen, and pneumatic devices. By capturing the beam spot on the scintillation screen with a camera and using LabVIEW software for image processing and data fitting, the position information of the beam can be calculated. By comparing with the theoretical calculation values, it provides guidance and reference for beam commissioning personnel. Some important beam parameter information is also locally saved for future retrieval and analysis.
