State-of-the-Art Multi-Core Architectures: Analyzing Current Research, Identifying Gaps, and Exploring Future Directions

Multi-core architectures in modern computing systems are constantly being improved by focusing on enhancing their energy efficiency, performance, and security. This study aims at investigating how multi-core architectures affect computational workloads, addressing scalability problems as well as suggesting novel optimization strategies. In this article, we assessed Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) algorithm's performance using a fine-grained and coarse grained parallelism approach on a multicores Intel Xeon E5-2680 processor. Further, the study evaluated the HeteroCore GPU architecture for optimized multitasking and explored deterministic memory hierarchy for predictable access patterns. Key findings indicate that multi-core architectures improve performance through parallel processing and also save energy despite challenges such as software complexity or memory bandwidth limitations. For instance, fine-grained parallelism resulted in significant speedup in CRC algorithms whereas adaptive thermal management techniques reduced processor temperature which enhanced reliability. This analysis emphasizes efficient resource allocation mechanisms, time verification plus thermal management to optimize multicore performance. The study concludes with possible future directions including further optimizing of parallelism techniques and exploration of security measures in multi-core systems.
