Effect of DQ/GIO Data Pattern and Power Delivery Design on EMI in DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory)

This paper presents the analysis of DRAM-related EMI depending on DQ/GIO data patterns and power delivery design. DDR2 667 memories are used and the radiated emissions are measured at 1GHz frequency (the 3^rd harmonic of the clock). Five types of data patterns, which have different magnitudes of EMI-related frequency, are forced to transmit repeatedly and the dependency on radiated emission are measured. As well, three DRAM chips, which have different power delivery design, are tested to see the effect of power delivery design with the data pattern dependency.
