Research on Parametric Design of Robot Flexible Torso Based on PolyJet 3D Printing

PolyJet 3D printing (PolyJet 3DP) technology offers engineers unprecedented design freedom with its superior printing precision, multi-material mixing capabilities, and the capability to manufacture complex structures. However, traditional robotic design paradigms struggle to fully utilize their design space, failing to take full advantage of multi-material capabilities. In this research, a novel flexible torso design paradigm for robots based on PolyJet 3DP technology and a parametric design method is proposed to fully exploit the potential of PolyJet 3DP technology. This paradigm combines material distribution optimization and multi-functional design at the voxel level by using parametric design and finite element analysis tools, not only expanding the application scope of PolyJet 3DP technology but also providing new ideas for future intelligent manufacturing.
