Damage Detection Based on Modal Shapes of Wing

In the current aircraft maintenance process, non-destructive testing is mainly used for damage detection, which has the advantages of simple operation and direct results. However, there are also shortcomings such as low detection efficiency and intermittent damage detection, making it difficult to continuously monitor the health status of the structure. Good research results have been achieved in identifying modal parameters of structures in existing studies, but there is relatively few research on modal parameter identification and damage detection of wing structures. This paper presents NExT-ERA method to identify the modal parameters of wing structures, and the identification results are in good agreement with the theoretical results; Simultaneously, the change rate of curvature modal shape is used as an identification indicator to detect structural damage. The method presented in the paper is based on structural modal shapes for damage identification, which can help to construct an aircraft structural health monitoring (SHM) system.
