Data-Driven Approach for Predicting the Remaining Useful Life of Aircraft Brake Disc

The aircraft brake system is responsible for maintaining the static weight of the aircraft, absorbing the impact of dynamic loads and dissipating the kinetic energy of the aircraft during landing. Aircraft brake disc is one of the most critical parts of the aircraft to achieve braking and ensure safe flight. Once the brake disc wear exceeds the threshold, it will lead to reduction of braking efficiency, and in serious cases, the aircraft will run off the runway. Therefore, we conduct five commonly used data-driven prognostic approaches to estimate the remaining useful life of aircraft brake discs. Firstly, the wear dataset of aircraft brake discs is presented. Following that, five commonly used remaining useful life prediction methods are introduced briefly. At last, the methods are applied to the same dataset respectively, and the experimental results are compared and analyzed.
