Ranging-based Modeling and Simulation of Target Locating Error of EO Payload

Target locating is one of the most important applications of UAV. Minimizing locating errors and improving positioning accuracy are an important direction for UAV target locating. The article illustrates UAV positioning featuring low speed and low altitude, the error solution modeling under general conditions is established through error analysis of spatial multi-point positioning system. The major direct error sources, such as calculation error, satellite-based positioning error, and optical axis error, are analyzed, among which the satellite navigation positioning error is a linear error while the error caused by ranging is an nonlinear error. Meanwhile, considering the different target locating and reconnaissance missions of the UAV, this article simulates the target locating error at the relative flying altitude of 500m~6000m and the operating range of 1000m-8000m. The simulation results are consistent with the actual flight verification results. The error model provides an effective solution for efficient and rapid target locating of the UAV.
