Simulation of Short Circuit Fault in 66kV Offshore Wind Power Collecting System and Analysis of Electrical Wear of High-Voltage Circuit-Breakers

High voltage circuit breakers are one of the key equipment in offshore wind power collection systems. The impulse current generated by three-phase short circuit or single-phase ground short circuit faults on the line will directly affect the electrical reliability of the high-voltage circuit-breaker contacts. This article establishes a simulation model for the 66kV offshore wind power collection system based on Matlab/Simulink, simulates and analyzes the short-circuit impulse current at different short-circuit faults and fault locations, and calculates the relative electrical wear and breaking times of the circuit breaker using the evaluation methods of contact relative electrical wear and relative electrical life. Simulation calculations show that the relative electrical wear of contacts is related to the failure type and the location of the failure point. Short-circuit impulse current is one of the direct factors affecting the electrical wear and its reliability of circuit-breaker contacts.
