Design of a Two-Element MIMO Antenna with Retangular Slotting for C-Band Radar Applications

The design and optimization of a two-element, rectangular slotted Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna system for C-band radar applications are presented in this work. The antenna is perfect for radar applications because of its 7.2 GHz resonance frequency. Its modest size is 26.00 mm x 37.71 mm, with each patch measuring 12.22 mm x 10.6 mm. The antenna substrate is Rogers RT5880, which has a lossy dielectric constant of 2.2, due to its favorable electrical properties. To attain best performance, the antenna design incorporates rectangular slots to enhance bandwidth and impedance matching. With meticulous optimization, the proposed solution achieves an impressive 78.5% increase in efficiency over conventional systems and a notable gain enhancement of 6.3 dB. Enhancing radar system performance, ensuring accurate signal transmission, and reliable detection all depend on these advances. For C-band radar applications, the suggested MIMO antenna construction is a desirable option since it strikes a balance between small size, wide bandwidth, better efficiency, and higher gain. The design's effectiveness has been confirmed by extensive simulation and experimental results, underscoring its possible application in radar systems that demand high-performance antenna solutions.
