Dual-Band Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna with Hemispherical Cut for WLAN Applications

This paper presents a novel dual-band Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) with a hemispherical cavity within a cylindrical structure, designed for WLAN applications. The antenna resonates at 4.7 GHz and 5.8 GHz, covering key WLAN bands. The hemispherical cavity enhances dual-band performance while reducing material usage, improving efficiency. Simulation and measurement results show excellent impedance matching with S11 values around -20 dB at both frequencies. The cavity also improves bandwidth and radiation efficiency, while the antenna remains compact. Stable radiation patterns are observed across both bands, achieving an radiation efficiency of 80%, making this design a cost-effective and efficient solution for modern WLAN systems.
