Predictive Analysis of Restaurant Inventory: A Study on Stocking Items Based on Popularity Trends

Restaurant industry is a very huge, widespread and one of the most pivotal components of the society. Effective inventory management plays a major role in ensuring operational efficiency and profitability. In restaurant, items can be stocked on the basis of demand patterns. This significantly optimizes resource allocation and also enhances customer satisfaction. In this research paper, we investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of employing predictive analytics to determine the optimal inventory stocking strategy for restaurants. The research paper begins with an extensive literature review on inventory management in the restaurant sector. We also highlight the challenges and opportunities associated with demand forecasting and inventory optimization. The dataset description and research methodology section provide detailed information on the approach adopted for data collection, pre-processing and analysis. In this study, we utilize historical sales data to develop predictive models. Further, the paper presents the results of the analysis and identifies the key items that restaurants need to stock up on based on the demand on specific dates and time. The research identifies significant correlations between various factors and demand for specific items, through various statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms. The study also evaluates the performance of the predictive models in accurately forecasting demand and guiding inventory stocking. The results of the research provide important insights to the restaurant management which enables them to optimize inventory levels, reduce wastage of ingredients and enhance overall operational efficiency.
