Research on Return Link Superframe Timeslot Allocation Algorithm Based on DVB-RCS2

With the increasing demand for high-speed interactive services, for Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite communications with scarce bandwidth resources, the resource management of GEO satellite return link is the key to improving satellite bandwidth resource utilization and ensuring quality of service (QoS) for users of different sizes and priorities. This paper proposes a Constant Return Carrier Resource Allocation (CRCRA) algorithm under Multi-frequency Time Division Multiple Access (MF-TDMA) based on fixed backhaul carrier, which optimizes the timeslot allocation under MF-TDMA frame structure with different symbol rate bandwidth carriers when different priority users send service requests simultaneously. By building simulation models on Satellite Network Simulator 3 (SNS3) and VSCode, and comparing the Return Channel Satellite Terminal (RCST) response rate with the classical timeslot allocation algorithm with different priority. It is verified that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the carrier slot utilization and meet the Qos of different RCST.
