River Water Quality Monitoring System Using IoT and WQI Analysis

The considerable experimental requirements for water quality evaluation make it a difficult undertaking. However, sensor probes and Internet of Things (IoT) devices can automate the process of monitoring water quality. The Internet of Things infrastructure-based river water quality monitoring and evaluation is presented in this article. With the use of internet of things devices that use sensors, the process of monitoring water quality can be automated. In India, experiments were conducted to evaluate the Triveni Sangam River's water quality in various seasons and months. A number of sensors, including ones for measuring PH, temperature, conductivity, and total dissolved solids, were included in the smart IoT kit. In order to forecast WQI, three machine learning (ML) techniques were used: Gene Expression Programming (GEP), M5P Model Tree, and Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS). An algorithm is also presented named Water Quality Index to find the overall weight of each parameter and convert it into a single value for river water quality assessment. The results say that the quality of the water is suitable for drinking, if not then it can be used for irrigation, fisheries also for other reasons.
