Research on the Modulation Mode Performance of Underwater Acoustic Channel

This paper explores the performance of signal modulation methods in underwater acoustic channels. The underwater acoustic channel is influenced by the unique properties of the underwater environment. Signal propagation in this channel undergoes reflection, refraction, and diffraction, leading to multipath propagation phenomena that significantly affect signal quality and reliability. To study the performance of underwater acoustic channels, the Bellhop model is employed to model the underwater acoustic channel. Then the performance of Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) signals and 16-Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (16QAM) signals in deep-sea and shallow-sea environments is tested separately. By comparing these two modulation schemes, the study investigates their transmission performance in different water depths and validates certain characteristics like bite error rate of underwater acoustic channels.
